Description

I bought this car from Texas and it has never seen aMinnesota winter, spring, or fall. I only drove it from March 1996 (when Ititled the car) to August of 2000 (when I parked it) during the summers to carshows and drive ins. This is not a "barn" find. It has been stored inan industrial warehouse for over 20 years. I see NO evidence of mice. Just athick film of dust. It sits as it was parked over 20 years ago.
Was repainted once close to the original color. I did notrepaint it, but I did have it wet sanded by a body shop and it had a prettymirror finish (which you can see in the old photos). It now has some surface ruston trim, edges around windows, and on the bumper (see photos) but is completelysolid. When it was repainted there appears to be light bodywork on the nosepoint (see photo). I took a rag to the bumper and brown rust comes off (seephotos).
Driver’s seat has tears and shouldbe re-covered, the headliner has two small spits.
Engine block stamped: K W 583
7K1184446. I did not do any carb work as theyran great the entire time I drove it.
This car was regularly showed at the MSRA “Back to the 50’s”shows in the mid to late 90s (1964 is the last eligible year for that event). It was parked in August of 2000. I know the date because I took pictures before(and after) I parked it and still have those pictures in the envelope with thedate. It should be obvious which pictures are the ones from the summer of 2000.
As is - where is. You will need a trailer. 3 of 4 tires heldair for the 20 years, one did not and was ruined sitting flat. Put the spare on(it held air) and the bad tire is in the trunk. Has not turned over in 20 years,no battery, and gas tank will need to be flushed or replaced as you would notwant to plug those 2 carburetors with 20 year old gas if there is any in there.Even though it was running fine when it was parked 20 years ago, you cannotwork on it here to get it running to drive home. With some serious cleaning andsimple mechanical rejuvenation (I would fog the cylinders, turn it over byhand, flush the gas tank and lines, and change the oil) you could be back tothe car shows in relatively short order.
There are 2+ pallets of first-generation Riviera parts (theRed 1996 Riviera next to it is NOT included in the parts). You don't have totake all of them, just what you want, and I can get rid of the rest. Or thewhole lot. Your choice. Bring boxes and bubble wrap because you might want towrap some of the items for transport. A lot will fit in the trunk and cabin ofthe car itself. The engines we should be able to load you with a forklift, whichI should be able to arrange. Just be prepared for a lot of stuff if you wantit.
The air conditioning didn't blow cold air when I bought it,so I took off the compressor to give me more room to clean up the engine bay.Should still have all the parts and some spares. Also I was buying up otheraccessories to add to the car and have first generation Riviera AM/FM radio, power antenna, Guide-Matic Autotronic Eye (with complete dashboard and controlmodule), cruise control, rear defroster, two full sets of hubcaps (derby andknock off) and 3 odd WildCat hubcaps, pneumatic trunk release, interior andexterior trim, purse hook (still in original “BUICK engineer approvedaccessory” packaging), two nailhead engines, books, manuals... over two palletsof parts.
For those of you who are not local: If you arrange for atransporter to come with the appropriate access trailer (as mentioned I cannotdrive the car on, or in, a trailer - it would need to be winched in), I wouldbe happy to help them load the car (after payment has cleared). However, I willnot be responsible for loading all the parts/engines/etc. I will be there tohelp, but the buyer must assure everything is packed and loaded the way theywant (and bring your own packing supplies). In other words, you MUST to beon-site if you want the parts. I'm sure people have cars picked up andtransported all over the country, but all these parts make this another story. Ihope you understand the situation and please bid accordingly. I will not coordinatetransportation.
Payment: bank CASHIER’S check at time of pick up. No trades. No exceptions.
