About CABS Classics
1973 Buick Riviera
What You Need to Know
I'm proud to offer for your consideration this beautiful 1973 Buick Riviera. This is one of my personally owned vehicles, not a brokered car like many of my auctions.  The boattail was only produced from 1971-73, and the higher end examples like this one continue to go up in value.
With less than 52,000 miles on the odometer, this is a strikingly all original survivor.  Everyone who comes in contact with this car is surprised at how nice it looks and sounds. It's obviously been well cared of.  Owned most of its life by a doctor in Tulsa, OK, always garage kept and never driven in bad weather.  The buy it now is very reasonable; well under what Hagerty values this car at in #2 condition and similar to what other high end Riviera's have sold for recently.  Fair offers will gladly be considered.
Body:
The Rivi wears the factory color Code 81 yellow beige color paint with white vinyl top. A few swirl marks plus a few small chips that you would expect on a 48 year old car are present, see photos. The paint shine is excellent, weather-stripping incredible for it's age, and chrome in good condition. This is a very solid car with no known rust.
Interior:
The interior is very clean and in excellent condition. There is a small rip in the drivers seat back area. Everything works on the dash except the clock.  The radio is a new AM/FM Custom Autosound Concours USA-630. Power windows, locks, seats, and antenna all work.  Stewart Warner gauges below ash tray.  Ash tray had been removed for a touch screen stereo by previous owner.  (Not something I would have ever done). I got the ash tray back in but its a little loose.  Could seal it shut if you don't plan to use it.
Engine/Transmission/Drivetrain:
Just like the rest of this Riviera the engine does not disappoint.  Its a great running and very clean engine with no unusual noise. See video below.  If it sits awhile between starts it will burn off a little oil off the drivers side block, so probably needs a valve cover gasket.  Doesn't use oil running or drip much of any fluids.  Just a very solid 455 motor that's always been fed ethanol free premium and VR-1 racing oil. Transmission shifts smoothly as it should.  Brakes work well with no pulling to one side or otherwise.  Coolant is full with no leaks.  AC is all there, compressor kicks on, and blows cool but not real cold air like it did just a month or two ago.
My mechanic doesn't have an R12 gauge, and others have told me it's best to keep these cars R12, so I'll sell as it is.  If you win the auction and want it converted to R134 and charged before shipping that can be negotiated.
Wheels & Tires:
Excellent tread on Centennial Interceptor Touring P235/70R15 tires. Wheels and center caps are all in good condition.  Car typically left on racing ramps over the winter months to keep the tires in great shape. Black dice valve cover caps go perfect with the fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror.
Undercarriage:
Looks very good.  I can try to get some pictures if you need them but I have no lift so it's hard to get good pictures.
Extras:
Car comes with a big box of good stuff, including a 73 Buick Shop manuals CD, many issues of "The Review" which is a Riviera Owners Association publication, several shop manuals, several parts books, and even a Johnny Lightning "Super 70"s" die cast model.
I try to give any vehicle I auction complete and detailed descriptions.
The vehicles are always available for inspection by you or a third party. If you have a questions please ask before bidding and possibly purchasing the car. You'll always get full honest answers which eliminates any possible issues after the sale. The car is available locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime so be sure to let your interest be known early if you want this classic boattail Riviera.
